Heritage • Journeys Continued - Opera Lives (Reopen)
Les Beatitudes brings back “Heritage • Journeys Continued – Opera Lives” an exhibition revolving around Cantonese Opera, one of the major categories of Chinese Opera.
To promote the rich heritage and preservation of the art form, the exhibition includes installations, talks, and an intimate viewing of special collections on costume and accessories. It will also showcase a 4-meter long upcycled collage repurposed from neckties, a musical tour with a soundtrack curated by legendary DJ Uncle Ray, photographs into the backstage scene, captured by renowned photographer Frank Fischbeck on loan by The University of Hong Kong Libraries, and a 3D backstage wardrobe for visitors to experience.
Exhibit will feature:
Princess Costume, Formal court lady attire
Dress for rich unmarried lady with elaborate sequins from 1960’s and selection of shoes including one pair for role with bounded feet (Gifted by famous movie/opera star Nam Hong)
Rare hair ornaments made from colourful feather of birds handed down from Eliza’s mother who was also an opera artist
3D dressing table mock up from real antique fold-out trunk
